Dentistry for the Developmentally Disabled

Everyone needs a healthy smile, but standard dentistry does not meet the needs of everyone. At Garrisonville Dental, we want to ensure all our patients have access to dental treatments that will improve their oral and overall health. Our dentists offer dentistry for our patients with special needs. This includes those that require hospital dentistry, sleep apnea treatments and the developmentally disabled.

Those with disabilities may require special care when they receive their checkups and dental treatments. Dental care is especially important for individuals that may have difficulty performing their own oral hygiene. Our team will make sure we have the right accommodations for our special needs patients. We have in-office sedation, if necessary. We also offer hospital dentistry for our patients with severe anxiety or difficulty during dental procedures.

Hospital Dentistry

For some of our patients, complete sedation is needed for dental treatment. If oral surgery is required or the patient becomes agitated during dental procedures, we offer hospital dentistry. In these situations, dental treatments will be performed in an operating room under anesthesia. This can be safer and more comfortable for our patients, allowing us to give them the best care available.

Sleep Apnea

For our patients with sleep apnea, we offer treatment to improve their condition with oral appliances we design in our office. In obstructive sleep apnea, changing the position of the jaw while sleeping can reduce obstructions of the airway, allowing for a restful sleep and reduction of snoring. We offer customized solutions for our patients with sleep apnea to help them get the quality sleep they need and to protect their health.

At Garrisonville Dental, we care about the oral health and comfort of all our patients. We offer accommodations for our special needs and developmentally disabled patients to ensure they get the best dental care available. Contact our office today to schedule an appointment.
